INVERARY JAIL, SCOTLAND |
|
The team arrived after a 6 1/2 hour drive in inverary at 3pm. The town looked very welcoming and a quiet little town. We all decided to get settled in our B&B’s and maybe have a cat nap. When we awoke at 6pm the town had a very different feel. It was empty, cold and dark, not at all the same welcoming feel we had when we arrived 3 hours ago. Don’t get me wrong the locals were fine but the place just had a ghost town feel to it (excuse the pun).
Paul had been explaining to the team that he had been dreaming about cell 6 all week and that he was hoping to get a lot out of it!!
We arrived at the jail at 7pm and met up with the local guide Rob Irons. He gave us a guided tour of the property and told us some of the ghost stories about the place and some of the paranormal activity that had been reported.
The initial baseline tests were all fine and the temperature was cold but normal. In the court room Julie initially picked up on an energy at the back of the room and also the name Catherine which was possibly a spirit of a young girl. The team then moved onto the old jail which holds 8 cells. The place was old, damp and very dark. Once again a quick sweep was made which all proved to be normal. However after Lee took Paul upstairs to investigate the higher floor Paul stated (as he walked up the stairs) cell six is the second cell on the left…. And yes it was the second cell on the left just as Paul had seen in his dreams!! This cell would have to wait for later to get our full attention. Then the new jail, this part of the building holds 16 cells on 4 floors then an exercise yard on the fifth floor. It was at this point the team started to realize that the night may not stay as calm as it had been. Richard and Lee when on the 3rd floor heard a voice from the floor above them say SHIT and a bang. On investigating they was met with Paul and Maz who had heard this from the first floor and thought that it was Lee and Richard. Nothing was found!!
The team took a break and decided it was time for lights out. They began their sweep of the building again in the same order but this time calling out and in the dark. The court room was very quiet and so was the old jail but the new part really put a fright to the team. We locked ourselves in a cell on the bottom floor and started calling out. We immediately heard bangs and drags coming from outside the cell. Some bangs were responding to our questions and others just at random. We got the feeling something was playing with us. The team moved up a floor hoping to get closer to the spirit. The more we climbed the less we got.. Until we hit the fifth floor!!! On asking out we got some really good responsive knocks and when Lee asked to knock twice if the spirit would like us to return later in a smaller group the team all heard a very loud two bangs coming from right next to us.
We all decided to split into two teams and though we would try a all boy and all girl experiment. The boys ventured off into the new block once again and the girls into the court room. The boys were in high spirits and made a good go at trying to contact the spirits in the building however kept finding ourselves laughing at everything that was said or did. Was this the spirits effecting us or just boys being boys.. Either way we enjoyed the experience!! As far as activity was concerned lots of taps and bangs were heard but nothing more. The girls had the same experience in the court room with lots of random taps and knocks.
Time for something a bit different we all though.. So we split into two’s!! Lee & Paul - Old Jail top floor Sarah & Annette - New Jail Maz & Julie - New Jail Kev & Richard - New Jail Gary & Daz - Old jail
Lee and Paul (AKA Karl & Stuart from Most Haunted) headed straight for cell 6.. They got some knocks but very faint. They then moved into cell 7 the psychiatric cell!! In there they heard a very load bang from within the cell with them. On investigation we think it was a lump of wood that was on the floor behind the door. This was proved to be one of the best bits of evidence so far as no one else was in the building at the time and after watching the video footage the piece of wood was not there when we walked in the cell as Lee did a full sweep with the camera before hand.
The night was eventful with lots on camera to look at and lots of sounds and bangs to further investigate. |
