Captain Cook Museum

Whitby

History: The property was the house Captain James Cook lived in in 1749 as a young Sailor, now converted into a museum celebrating his life. The property belonged to a John Walker who was James Cooks captain at the time.

The property boasts 4 floors of rooms plus a small cellar that was once  the Tudor house.

Team arrived in Whitby early to do a bit of sight seeing and were keen to get in the museum and start a long night of investigating.

On arrival we had a guided tour of the building that took the best part of 2 hours to get through the 4 floors of rooms and exhibits. We then decided to go round again with Wayne Tear to see what he thought of the property…. He described seeing the property as a very male dominated place that could have been some kind of public house or meeting point at some point. He also picked up on a Mary that roamed the place (this would have been Mary Proud the lady in waiting)

The team then decided to split into two teams:

Team 1 Lee, Paul, Richard, Sarah, Darren, Annette

Team 2 Maryanne, Julie, Kev, Gary, Clive, Monica, Wayne, Stevie

Team 1 stayed at the bottom level while team 2 started on the 4th floor.

During our walk round Annette was feeling sick and as if she had a cloak rapped around her. She eventually had to leave the team to have a break as it was getting to much for her. When Team 1 started Table tipping the results were amazing with firstly Annette being affected again and then the table practically moving from one side of the room to another.

Paul also got some evp on the sound recorder where you can clearly here a voice telling him to “GET OUT” Twice!!

They also got great results from the glass moving when up on the 3rd floor where Daz  connected with a small boy.

Team 2  tried all these exercises but with not the same effect. Although they did pick up on a lot and also  got results from a pendulum exercise when Gary felt that he had been affected slightly.

Main events of the night:

· The evp on the sound recorder telling Paul to GET OUT!!

· A shadow caught on camera behind the team on the first floor in the mirror

· The table tipping was amazing with it tipping over several times

· Annette being affected by something and a one point didn’t quite know where she was.

· Gary being affected by the spirit in the attic.

· Something got threw at Paul while in the cellar
