THE BENTINCK MINERS WELFARE

3RD MAY 2008

Midnight - 5am

Weather = Dry, mild

Skies = clouding

Outside Temp= 7 C

Venue = Two storey building, in addition to cellar, Large Function room on upper floor

TAPIT Team = Paul, Sarah, Richard, Cal, Tracey, Deb, Laura, Daz and Bentinck guests

           The Open Night finished just after midnight and the team caught their breaths for a moment, some of the team called it a night before the fool hardy took on all that the Bentinck had to offer once again.

           The team assembled in the back rooms and picked up where we had left off on the Mini Investigations during the Open Night with strange shadows and movements dominating the vigil, one guest felt unwell and faint and was removed from the vigil within minutes of it beginning. The team moved into the Kitchen area to be greeted by a door being closed that was open when Paul had checked the motion sensors minutes earlier. A glass séance was conducted with George coming through as always unfortunately the energies were low (perhaps as a result of the impressive Mini Investigations earlier) the team moved back into the Function room where more shadows had as looking around to ensure all the team were accounted for. The team split into groups of Boys and Girls and got some excellent results.

Team 1 - Sarah, Laura, Tracey and Gill (Guest) moved to the bars downstairs

Team 2 - lead by Paul with Richard, Daz, Cal and Craig (Guest) entered the smallest space ever investigated by TAPIT underneath the function room stage.

           Team 1 entered the stage bar and begin calling out, almost immediately the group felt uneasy, Tracey felt the presence of a man but more oddly the spirit of a dog (Witnessed on previous occasions by cleaners at the venue), they got a few knocks and bangs, one seemingly shaking the stage whilst they sat on it). The team were uneasy about a small room to the right of the stage and all felt something was watching them from there and hiding in the shadows. The unease proved to much and they moved upstairs to the Office room

           Meanwhile Paul’s team climbed below the Function room stage, with little ease of escape the asked out and were greeted by knocks and creeks, perhaps most impressively at one point they heard footsteps above them before several taps seemingly occurred in response to questions, however with the environment they were in and the objects stored with them below the stage some of this could be dismissed as simple movements of their own bodies. After leaving the tight space they entered the back rooms and stood in a small cupboard unfortunately nothing was reported.

           At this point the girls had arrived upstairs and positioned in the office, after informing the boys of what happened downstairs the lads went off to investigate, they started in the small room (The area of unease for the girls) and attempted a small séance, the glass didn’t move with any significance but both Daz and Paul were convinced of heavy breathing around them. After Cal had gone home they moved to a newly developed bar but the team found themselves calm and relaxed.

           The girls on the other had were frightened, the warm office environment was intense, they heard knocks, groans, whispers and even a growl whilst they sat quietly, Tracey picked up on the spirit of Fred (The resident Bentinck Skeleton) and got good information from him as to his death and his life, he was a miner in the local area that walked across the fields (where the Bentinck is now built) to the mines to work, Tracey then advised he had died from someone else's hands on his way home from work. The unease continued Laura accurately found Fred’s hiding place when she felt someone stood behind her, sure enough she was stood in front of the cupboard where Fred hangs in the office!! Footsteps were heard in the corridor and enough was enough, they called in the boys for backup.

           The team regrouped in the office and more strange noises were heard, Paul went into the corridor alone with a camera and felt a presence behind him, shortly after Tracey said that someone else was walking in the corridors, nothing caught on film unfortunately.

           Paul and Daz then left the rest of the team and entered the back rooms behind the function room whilst the rest of team moved downstairs. Despite an overpowering feeling that someone was telling them to leave no activity was captured although both Paul and Darren felt they weren’t alone, they then decided to attempt a table tip, just the two of them and after perhaps in sighting the worst in the spirits they found themselves witnessing their small table rocking violently before slamming to the floor, the table full tilted on three further occasions before Daz decided they should test the waters by using a much bigger bar table. Within seconds the pair found that this table was no object for the spirits either as once again it tilted slamming to the floor………..again and again!! Until at one point it even tilted up from one side and flipped over!

           The rest of the team gathered with them and the table tipping continued until they team were physically exhausted from running after the table and constantly picking it up off the floor. At the end of this séance the team called it a night at the very early time of 5am

Main events of the night:

· Further communication with George and others via the glass

· The girls feeling jumpy and uneasy

· The noises and imposing feeling felt in the office area

· The Table Tipping was perhaps the most violent we have ever witnessed especially when it was Paul and Daz on the table seeing it tilt and slam over with regular occurance.
